Ogun NSCDC Intercepts 88 Sacks of Petrol ...Warns Illegal bunkerers ...Seeks community leaders, traditional rulers, other stakeholders cooperation

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ogun State Command, in its efforts at combating illegal dealings in petroleum products, oil pipeline vandalism, diversion of petroleum products and deterring oil thieves from the nation's oil resources, amongst others, has impounded 88 sacks of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), on the waterways at Akere in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The sacks of PMS which contained approximately 120 litres each, according to the command spokesperson, Dyke Ogbonnaya, were seized on the Akere Waterways from suspected oil thieves who are currently at large, by the Marine Squad of the NSCDC, Ogun state Command. 
"On sighting the patrol boat of the Marine Squad, the suspects abandoned the products and fled through the waterways. However, the team of the NSCDC Marine Squad are still intelligently on their trail to bring them to book. 
"Information made available revealed that according to Intelligence information at the disposal of the Tactical NSCDC Marine Squad, the petroleum products are being jetted out to the neighbouring Republic of Benin. In furtherance to the investigations by the intelligence team, it was revealed that the stolen PMS are gotten from Isanlu, around Lagos State via the waterways", he said. 
Reacting, the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command, Commandant David Idowu Ojelabi, mni, noted that the Corps in the State will ensure constant patrol of the waterways in order to combat these acts. 
"I will put all my trajectories and compasses to ensure these illegal activities do not become businesses as usual", he vowed. 
"I will report appropriately to the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, National Headquarters, Abuja, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni, OFR, on the recurring activities of these waterways oil theives and illegal dealers in petroleum products whose activities usually lead to scarcity of the products meant for distribution to Nigerians, and the need for high speed gun boats to further improve the operational capacity of the personnel", he added.
Consequent upon this seizure, the State Commandant also warned the general public against this act of Sabotage, vowing to ensure that the full weight of the law is extended to anyone caught perpetuating such heinous crime. 
He also warned other conspirators to desist from any act capable of making them liable for crimes relating to sabotage of government policies and tampering with assets and infrastructure across all parts of the State.
Commandant Ojelabi also strongly sought the cooperation and support of well meaning Nigerians with accurate intelligence information that could lead to nipping crime in the bud and guaranteeing security across the State, as this will further enhance the responsiveness to security for the betterment of all. 
He promised to ensure people-centred security and welfare for the people of the State reiterating that these are the major hallmarks of security agencies anywhere in the world.
In one of his submissions during questions from the journalists, he strongly emphasized to build a strong cooperation and robust relationship with community leaders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders towards a more peaceful Ogun State. Commandant Ojelabi also strongly promised to work assiduously with other sister security agencies in the State.
 "If we work together, we achieve together and we succeed together which is the best philosophy for security successes across the world", he concluded.
