Hon. Akinosi Sponsors Bill for The Establishment of Federal University of Technology, Federal Medical Centre In Ado-Odo/Ota

Nigeria, Abuja - The honourable member representing Ado Odo/Ota Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Engr. 'Tunji Akinosi, FNSE on Thursday sponsored two bills during the House plenary.
The two bills are, bill for the establishment of Federal Medical Centre, Atan-Ota (Establishment) (HB 349), and bill for the establishment of the Federal University of Technology, Atan-Ota (Establishment) (HB350).
According to Akinosi, "the bill to establish the Federal University of Technology, when passed into law, would allow for academic and professional programmes leading to the award of first degrees, post-graduate degrees, and diplomas with special emphasis on technology and research.
"Also, the Federal Medical Centre, when established, he said, would serve as a centre for training of health professionals, conducting advanced health research, and would be equipped with facilities for diagnostic treatment and rehabilitation at the tertiary levels.
"As of today, training facilities in the health sector are inadequate for the current population and projected population growth for Nigeria, is currently put at 3 per cent per annum.
"Therefore, establishing the Federal Medical Centre will address this gap, among others.
"It will also afford the constituents easy access to an advanced health facility".
The two bills have passed the first reading.
